Zoology 23

Lizards are a part of the reptile vertebrate group. Most lizards have 4 legs with 5 toes on each foot. They have scaly skins and movable eyelids. Lizards can run very fast. Most of them can even swim. Lizards like to eat insects and other small animals like worms. Sometimes it is hard to tell what is a lizard and what is not. There are lizards that look like snakes and lizards that look like worms! An alligator lizard looks like a baby alligator. There is one way to tell if it is a lizard though. If a lizard is grabbed by the tail and the tail comes off, they can grow a new ones! There are only two lizards that are poisonous, the gila monster and the related beaded lizard. Lizards can be as small as 3 inches long or up to 10 feet long. The longest lizard is the komodo dragon. Most lizards live in trees and are good climbers. They are often active during the day and can be found basking in the sun.

The lizard is a timid thing,
that cannot dance or fly or sing.

Art 6

Long ago there was a period of time that was called the Renaissance. At this time in Europe, the red continent on our continent globe, there were some famous artist that are still remembered today for their amazing art work. Some of those artist names were Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo da Vinci.

These are some of their paintings (show paintings). Michelangelo was a sculpture artist as well. He made a very special sculpture called ‘David’. It is a very big sculpture of a man that is still able to be seen in Italy today. He sculpted it out of marble.

Sculpture is a three-dimensional artwork created by shaping or combining hard material such as marble, glass, wood, or clay. Many sculptures are painted after they are created. We can make a sculpture of anything we would like. Shape and create your own kind of sculpture . We will be using clay. The clay is our medium. In art, medium means the material that is used in a work of art, such as clay, pencil, or paint. Let’s look at some pictures of different kinds of sculptures.
