Pumpkin Time

In the northern hemisphere it is time for pumpkins to be harvested. Many families and schools will visit pumpkin farms to pick pumpkins and perhaps enjoy a hay ride around the farm. The areas of Botany, Practical Life, Math, Science, and Language often have a variety of pumpkin themed exercises.

Parts of a pumpkin is an example of an exercise found in Botany while counting out mini pumpkins is in found in the Math area. One year we decided to make continent pumpkins to include the Geography area of the classroom. Children painted the pumpkins blue and then glued continents around it as seen on the continent globe. A photo can be found in a past post called, Pumpkin Fun and other pumpkin lessons and ideas can be found in Week 8 Day 4 of the curriculum pages.
