Need for lesson – Months of the year cards. (I also like to take an older calendar and break it apart, and lay out each month on the floor to show how many months, weeks and days make up a year.)
Science 44
We have had a change on the calendar. The month is different, and now the year is different also. We have a new year! It is_______. The numeral of the year helps us to talk about time. All of us were born in a certain year. In that year we were born in a certain month and then in that month we were born on a certain day. Let’s look at how many months and days a year has. This is a calendar of a year. How many months does it have (count calendar months)? Twelve months are in a year. A year is one way we measure time. A year is a long time, each of these boxes shows one day! When we get to the end of the year we come back to start another year and the year changes to add one more to it.. We just finished the year ______and are now starting at the beginning with ________.
These are cards that name the months of a year. Let’s put them in order and learn some of the names.
